Should you visit Margaritaville RV Resort in Buford Georgia

Campground Review

Margaritaville RV Resort website

Address: 7650 Lanier Island Pkwy, Buford, GA 30518

Getting to the campground – we did run into some problems getting to the campground when it was dark. We lost service and there are not many road directions to get to the campground. You will want to drive straight through the round-a-bouts do not turn right, do not go all the way around and turn left. We accidentally took the motorhome up steep hills to the hotel resort and the roads were wet so the motorhome was slipping with our truck attached to the back.

The road is long and it takes 15 minutes from the entrance to get to your campsite driving the speed limit. You will pass the amusement park and many buildings but the campsites are past that. Once you get to the campground office you will then turn right and the campsites will be marked.

Campground map

We have stayed at site 18($$) and 29 ($$$)

Site 29 has amazing views of the lake and you do not have obstructed views of other RV’s here.

Site 18 had an RV parked next to us but we still were able to see the lake just not full views.

If we had to a site we would go to next time it would be Site 16 (for grass space), 19 and 20 they are up on the hill will views of the lake and wider yard space. Also 26, 27, 28 sites because they have amazing views of Lake Lanier.

These sites fit a 45ft motorhome in it perfectly. The sites are level and concrete and have enough space away from other sites. If you have a shorter RV you have more options of where you can park your RV.

Margaritaville’s Lakeside Lights Spectacular

This is an area Margaritaville Resort has decorated with lights and Christmas decor and lights. You can walk around on the sidewalk and visually check out all the lights and songs playing. You will not be allowed to walk on the sand area – they ask you to please stay on the sidewalk. The path leads you all the way around to watch the lights change colors.

It starts at 5pm but I would recommend going after 6pm when the sun has set. 1-2 snack shops are open during the winter season here. The rest of the shops are open in the warm months.

  • Military (active and retired) $14.99/ per person
  • Seniors (62+) $14.99/ per person

If you would like to save some money you can see the entire light display from a distance from the road above.

Getting around the campground

I recommend renting a golf cart or bringing your own! We did not and just decided to walk to the activity area and it took us 32 minutes! We then walked 32 minutes back in the pitch black in the woods. Not a good idea on our end but we thought it would have been more well lit side walks. The side walk ends once you start going to the campground so you will have few lights on the road path.

We saw so many deer’s out every night. On our walk back to our campsite we passed a few that were just staring at us while walking by. It was quite eerie in the pitch black.

A golf cart is needed unless you plan on driving and parking to get to the activities and restaurants.

I have compiled an entire list of all the campgrounds we have gone to over the 4.5 years we have been full-time RV traveling. Some of them have short reviews inside their descriptions. They are color listed by state and if they are a resort or just a campground.
